WestJet, Shattered Windscreen

A Westjet Boeing 767-300, registration C-FOGJ performing flight WS-1884 from Edmonton,AB (Canada) to Kahului,HI (USA) with 218 people on board, was enroute at FL380 over the Pacific Ocean about 710nm out of Kahului when the right hand windshield shattered and the crew received a "R FWD WINDOW" EICAS message. The crew, concerned about the damage, consulted with the Operations Center to calculate the fuel burn, then requested a descent to FL140 for the remainder of the flight. The aircraft landed safely in Kahului about 2:15 hours later. The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Kahului 3 days later. The Canadian TSB reported the right hand forward windshield shattered, a "R FWD WINDOW" message appeared. The associated checklist was worked, the crew, concerned with the damage, requested a descent to FL140 after consulting with operations center to compute the fuel consumption.
