Qantas, Cracked Windscreen

A Qantas Boeing 747-400, registration VH-OEB performing flight QF-63 from Sydney,NS (Australia) to Johannesburg (South Africa), was enroute at FL300 about 680nm southwest of Sydney when the crew decided to return to Sydney due to a cracked windshield. The aircraft climbed to FL360 for the return and landed safely in Sydney about 2:20 hours later. The airline reported the outer pane of the windshield had cracked.
