Hawaiian Airlines, Smoke in Cabin

A Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N592HA performing flight HA-47 from Oakland,CA to Honolulu,HI (USA) with 241 passengers and 10 crew, was descending through 16,000 feet towards Honolulu about 40nm north of Kahului,HI (USA) and about 60nm from Honolulu when the crew donned their oxygen masks and decided to divert to Kahului reporting occasional smell of smoke on board. The aircraft landed safely on Kahului's runway 02 about 20 minutes later, the aircraft taxied to the apron. The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto the next flights to Honolulu. The airline reported the aircraft diverted to Kahului out of abundance of caution.
